Vampires and love with a heaping plate of boring

Fortune Arterial is a generic romantic comedy with benign and mischievous vampires. The show does nothing beyond average and the animation is painfully limited. I almost dropped the series because of how boring it was but seeing as I had somehow neared the end, I gave it another try after a month of watching other shows.

There were a couple characters I enjoyed, namely Shiro, Kiriha and Shizuko. Unfortunately these three characters barely play a role in the anime while all the badly implemented cliche characters flapped their mouths to bland lines. This isn’t to say that Shiro, Kiriha or Shizuko aren’t cliche characters but I felt I wanted to see more of them than most of the other characters. I thought Shiro was cute and had a lot of untapped potential with the Yukimaru scenes. Kiriha suffered from small scenes and barely any depth when she should have been a great well of depth, given her age and constant mouse and cat game. Shizuko is the nun up top, she should have gotten more back story. I thought Shizuko could have added a lot to the anime in terms of understanding how these “vampires” think.

The animation feels very slow and the story is just as slow paced. The generic music didn’t help it either. I don’t think I laughed once during the entire anime, a sure sign that this anime is just another boring time waster. Not very entertaining but if you’ve got some extra time to waste and you’re a fan of harem style romantic “comedy” anime with a slice of slow served drama and plenty of cliche tropes abound, then I guess you’d enjoy Fortune Arterial moderately.

Overall: 6

Slow paced drama near the end. Not much animation, not much substance in the story, characters or music. Entertaining if you’re bored out of your mind.
